Old Chatham Ranch

The Old Chatham Ranch vineyard was planted in the spring of 2001 with 15 acres of Cabernet Sauvignon on top of a rugged ridge at 1920' elevation. The ridge is generally south-facing and is protected on the north side by redwood and oak trees. To prepare the red clay/loam soils, 100 tons of custom prepared organic compost and amendments were spread over the site. The Cabernet Sauvignon clone is 337 and are planted on drought resistant 110R rootstock using an 8' by 5' spacing and modified vertical shoot positioning (VSP) trellis system.
